Wes Newton directs strategic and business development for the Corporation and is responsible for the Corporation’s international business units including its ocean self-unloaders, global short sea short-sea divisions (cement and mini-bulk), and FureBear (product tanker) joint venture. Prior to joining Algoma in 2011, Mr. Newton held a position as senior corporate counsel with the Canadian subsidiary of a large international express air shipping company and had practiced litigation and commercial law in private practice. Called to the Ontario Bar in 2004, Mr. Newton holds a Honours Bachelor of Arts (HBA) in History from Queen’s University and an LLB from the University of New Brunswick.
