Coordinator, Logistics

Job Summary:

The Coordinator, Logistics assists in the tasks necessary to ensure that all consumables, parts and other items are delivered to the fleet on a timely and accurate basis and other related functions as required within established company policies, procedures, and established ethical standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares shipping documents, including dangerous or hazardous goods, to ensure traceability from supplier to vessel.
  • Maintains the organization and cleanliness of the Consolidation Centre’s work areas.
  • Applies all standard operating processes consistent with the organization’s Integrated Management System (IMS).
  • Packages and loads all parts, consumables, gas bottles and other items required for delivery.
  • Receives all incoming parts and consumables following established procedures including safe storage.
  • Maintains strong working relationships with the organization’s delivery partners.
  • Performs various cycle counts of rollers, burning gas bottles and other items to ensure an adequate supply is available for delivery as required.
  • Performs all duties and applies all methods that ensure compliance with all Safety, Environmental and Industry Standards including handling of hazardous and dangerous goods.
  • Performs all tasks that need to be completed to ensure continuous operation on a daily basis.
  • Maintains valid licences and certificates required to operate various warehouse equipment.
  • Applies continuous improvement methods required to maintain a cost-effective operation.
  • Provides support/back-up in all activities and functions provided by the logistics group.

 

Skills, Abilities and Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of Materials & Inventory Management or Logistics & Transportation.
  • High school certificate / post-secondary diploma preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in inventory management and control.
  • Valid forklift operator licence.
  • Familiarity with the maritime industry and the movement of vessels throughout the Seaway system.
  • Knowledge of the various spare parts required by the fleet.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent organization, planning and prioritization skills.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to create and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-motivated, able to work in a team environment and balance the needs of a number of individuals and the team.
  • Capable of identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner.
  • Valid passport and driver’s licence.
  • No travel restrictions.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to function in extreme weather conditions, heat and cold.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb vertical ladders and stairs.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Regularly required to talk/hear.
  • Daily use of standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
